K9 Teun is a dual purpose Belgian Malinois that’s serves the Richland Police Department. I (Lt.Brian Hamilton) am K9 Teun’s handler and I am assigned to the narcotics unit but we are also attached to the United States Marshals Service.
Teun has a very clear personality and when he is in the patrol vehicle, with his “working” collar on, he is serious business. When he is at home, off of work, he is stress free and mingles with my two kids, who are 14 and 11. I have been around working K9’s for about 15 years and Teun has one of the strongest work ethics that I have ever seen before. Teun’s favorite “toy” or “reward” is a rubber kong. Whenever I throw the Kong for him, it’s bounces around a lot and his prey drive kicks in.Teun was awarded 2nd place in the hard dog/fast dog competition, at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Association conference in 2022.
I’m 2025, me and Teun participated in the LawDog competition and was awarded 1st place in overall patrol teams, 2nd place in obedience, and 2nd place in building search for suspect.
