Flash

FLASH, Lompoc Police Department, LOMPOC POLICE DEPARTMENT, California

FLASH has received a vest thanks to your support!

Flash is a Belgian Malinois serving with the Lompoc Police Department as a dual-purpose K9. Flash is a 1 year and 10 months old K9. Flash was donated to the Lompoc Police Department by "One805" which is a non-profit charity organization that raises money to support local police, fire, and sheriff departments.

Flash recently completed an extensive 8-week canine training which consisted of performing patrol criminal apprehension, including bite work, tracking suspects, building searches, obedience and handler support. In addition, Flash is trained in scent detection of guns, ammunition, smokeless powder, gun magazines, and spent casings.

Flash enjoyed his training and is a fast learner. Flash has not won any awards but recently certified in apprehension and gun detection through IPCA (International Police Canine Association. Most recently, Flash was recognized for locating a handgun during a search warrant — a discovery he made on his second day of patrol. Since being on patrol, Flash has been deployed approximately 8-10 times in 2 weeks. Flash enjoys working and immediately recognizes when it's time to work by his actions. Flash will wiggle his tail; he will begin to bark and start to sniff on his own on how happy he is to work and serve his community.

During his off-duty days, Flash relaxes in his kennel, enjoys neck scratches, toy balls and tug ropes fight with is handler. Most recently Flash has been enjoying his early morning walks in the California sun with the coastal breeze. Flash loves to break off dead dried branches and shake them around.
