Meet my partner, K9 Jade — an explosive detection canine with the Port of Stockton Police Department and one of only four EOD K9s in San Joaquin County. Jade is a Belgian Malinois known for her intelligence, athleticism, and huge personality. At work, she is focused, driven, and always ready to search, train, or jump into the patrol car the second she realizes it’s time to work. Her favorite reward is her tug toy, and she plays with so much intensity that everyone jokes she secretly wishes she were a bite dog.
Jade is incredibly smart and learns new tasks quickly. During searches, she is methodical, determined, and confident, making her an outstanding working dog. Off duty, she is affectionate, goofy, and gentle with family, children, and other dogs. She loves giving hugs, chewing on her Kong toys, and soaking up attention from anyone willing to pet her. Jade is the perfect mix of beauty and brains — strikingly beautiful while also being an exceptionally capable and hardworking canine. People constantly stop to compliment her appearance, and her tall, graceful walk has even been compared to walking in high heels.
Although she has a sweet and loving personality at home, Jade is highly protective of her handler and patrol vehicle and immediately switches into work mode when needed. Her energy, loyalty, and confidence make her an incredible partner both on and off duty. Jade represents the dedication, professionalism, and strong bond that define a successful police K9 team.
