Cali is a Belgian Malinois with the Ankeny Police Department (IA) who serves as a dual-purpose working dog trained to detect the odor of narcotics, including methamphetamine, cocaine/crack cocaine, heroin and fentanyl, and trained in patrol functions such as tracking/area searches, evidence searches, building searches and suspect apprehension. Cali was born on November 10, 2023, and is currently weighing in around 60lbs. Cali was born in California and comes from a very strong blood line; her dad, “Big Daddy Pronto” is a huge Belgian, known for having an insane bite. Cali's mother is a single purpose narcotic dog with the North Dakota Highway patrol. Cali was formally known as “Demon”, for having a high drive and a little (A lot) defiance in her. Despite her drive and defiance, Cali is very social and will allow anyone to pet or approach her, yet can flip a switch when duty calls; she thoroughly enjoys work and is very well rounded. In 2026 Cali earned several USPCA placements, including the following:

2026- USPCA Region 21 Narcotic's Top Rookie Dog. 2026 USPCA 2nd Place Overall Narcotic Trials Region 21. 2026 USPCA National Narcotic Trials- Placed 17th out of 100 K-9 teams.

2026 Region 21 USPCA PD1's- Placed 6th out of 39 K9 Teams. Placed 2nd out of 6 for Rookie Dogs. Hopefully will be attending USPCA National PD1's in September down in Abilene Texas.

While at home, Cali loves to be outside and lay down in the shaded grass. She loves to play tug-o-war, Muzzle fighting a soccer ball and running around. Cali also loves digging holes in my grass, ripping up my carpet and biting the trim in my house. Because of this, I built her a house outside in my backyard so now she can do it to hers.

Feel free to reach out anytime if you have any questions.
