Bak

Bak, California State Parks-Oceano Dunes District, Oceano, California

Bak has received a vest thanks to your support!

Bak is a German Shepherd with California State Parks–Oceano Dunes District, serving as a dual-purpose patrol (apprehension, trailing, and search) and narcotics detection K9 at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area, Pismo State Beach, and across the state of California. He provides security for officers and helps them find dangerous narcotics in the park and surrounding cities. Bak is the department’s only K9 who primarily patrols in an off‑road vehicle and has figured out how to ride the waving sand dunes with his front paws on the center console. He is certified in Human Scent Trailing, Narcotics, and Patrol. He is all business on patrol but becomes a playful dog at home. He recently discovered playing fetch, likes belly rubs from his handler, and lying in the sun on the back patio.
